Growing up I spent a lot of time around my grandma who's a costume designer, and my aunt who's a professional dancer. I was just surrounded by TONS of preforming arts, pre-productions, plays and shows! I knew when I grew up, I'd want to be involved in all the creative magic around me.
Immediately after high school, I dove straight into Cosmetology school. Once I graduated, I spent 2 years in two full-service salons doing: cuts, color etc. In my second year, I realized I kind of hated being in the salon. (Not tea, no shade, it just wasn’t for me.) I then spent 6 months figuring out what I was doing in the industry and where I wanted to go.
It just clicked for me that I loved everything styling and production work. So I made the no-brained decision to move into bridal styling, while on the side I did fun photoshoots and passion projects. (Until I built up a portfolio and was able to work in commercial, film, and print.)
I started as an assistant to my mentor Leslie Barajas, where I started off handing her pins while she worked. After I practiced more with my styling, I began to start taking my own bridal clients through her company! Then I became her Lead Artist and Studio Educator, where I was able to mentor all of the beginner stylists that the company brought on, and helped them grow into confident artists.
After being apart of the company for 4 years, my goals started to shift and I realized I just wasn’t the best fit for her company anymore. (She is amazing, and we left things on great terms!! We just wanted different things, and that’s OKAY!)
In April of 2023 I launched my own company, loving life, and absolutely never looking back!
From 2016 to present I’ve: created my own bridal company, become an bridal educator, freelanced with luxury brands (Diesel, Emporio Armani, Fossil, Skagen) on their catalog campaigns, am contracted with the wigs for The Dallas Theater Center, learned to ventilate/make wigs, traveled cross country for work, tried out a few commercial/tv show gigs, and was even asked my cosmetology school to come back as a guest artist and teach!
The Moral of The Story: If you have a dream that’s burning in your chest, with every fiber of your being you better go for it! YOU are your own secret sauce.
